Networks age quietly. The firewall stops getting security updates, the switches can't keep up with the phones and cameras plugged into them, and the Wi-Fi was designed for half as many devices. A network infrastructure upgrade replaces the gear in a network you already have, with a plan that keeps downtime short. If you're starting from scratch in a new space, see network installation instead.
What the project includes
- Assessment. An inventory of your current equipment, its age and support status, and where the bottlenecks and security gaps are.
- Firewall replacement. A current, supported firewall with modern security features, configured for your business rather than copied over from the old one.
- Switch upgrades. Switches with enough ports, speed and power over Ethernet for today's phones, access points and cameras.
- Wi-Fi refresh. New access points where coverage or capacity has fallen behind, using our Wi-Fi design process.
- Network segmentation. Staff, guests, phones and other devices separated, if the old network ran everything together.
- Cleanup. Old rules, unused ports and leftover settings removed instead of carried forward.
Who it's for
Businesses running firewalls or switches that no longer get security updates, offices where the network has become the bottleneck, and organizations preparing for an audit, a cybersecurity review or a compliance assessment, where unsupported network equipment tends to stand out. Cyber insurance questionnaires often ask about it too.
How the work runs
- Assessment. We review the current network and tell you what needs replacing now, what can wait, and why.
- Plan. You approve the equipment and a cutover plan.
- Staging. New equipment is configured and tested before it reaches your office.
- Cutover. The swap is scheduled after hours or over a weekend, so your team isn't interrupted.
- Verification. We confirm every device, printer and phone is back online.
- Documentation. The network diagram and equipment list are updated.
The schedule depends on how much is being replaced and when equipment arrives. From you, we need a window for the cutover and a contact who can confirm everything is working the next morning.
What you get at the end
- Supported, up-to-date network equipment.
- A cleaner, segmented network.
- Updated documentation and admin credentials stored where you control them.
- A clear list of anything left for a later phase.
Ongoing support
Our network management service keeps the new equipment patched and monitored, so you aren't back here in a few years with another network nobody has touched.
We upgrade networks for businesses in Lexington and across Central Kentucky.
Common questions
The assessment shows which devices are out of support, which are overloaded and which can stay. Equipment that no longer gets security updates is usually first on the list.
We stage equipment ahead of time and schedule the cutover after hours or over a weekend, so your team comes back to a working network.
Yes. We'll tell you what needs to happen now and what can wait, so you can spread the work out.
