An office move has a fixed date and very little room for surprises. The furniture can arrive late and nobody minds much. If the internet, phones or file server aren't working on Monday morning, the whole business stops. We plan the IT side of your move from the first walkthrough to the first day, so your team sits down and gets to work.
What the project includes
- New space assessment. We walk the new space early to check cabling, the network closet, power and where the internet comes in.
- Internet and carrier coordination. Circuits ordered early and scheduled, because carrier install dates are often the longest lead time in a move.
- Network and cabling. Any cabling, network installation or Wi-Fi the new space needs, built and tested before move day.
- Phones. Phone systems moved or replaced with a cloud system, with numbers ported to the new location and emergency addresses updated.
- Equipment move. Computers, printers, servers and network gear packed, moved, reconnected and tested.
- Server and closet. If you keep equipment on-site, the new closet or server room is ready before the equipment arrives.
- Day-one support. We're on-site the first morning to fix anything that didn't come through the move cleanly.
Who it's for
Businesses moving across town, consolidating offices, adding a location or moving out of a space they've outgrown. Office moves are time-pressured by nature, so the earlier we're involved, the smoother it goes.
How the work runs
- Kickoff. We learn your move date, the new space and what has to move.
- Walkthrough of the new space. We check what's there and what needs to be built.
- Plan and schedule. You get a move plan: what gets installed ahead of time, what moves on move day, and who does what.
- Pre-move build. Internet, cabling, network and phones go in before the move.
- Move day. Equipment is shut down, moved, reconnected and tested.
- Day-one support. We're on-site when your team arrives.
Timing depends on the size of the move and carrier lead times, so the most useful thing you can do is call us as soon as you sign the lease. From you, we need the move date, access to the new space, and your current internet and phone account details.
What you get at the end
- A working office on day one: internet, network, Wi-Fi, phones and computers.
- Updated network documentation for the new space.
- A tidy network closet instead of one rebuilt in a hurry.
After the move
Once you're settled, our managed IT team keeps everything running and handles the small things that always come up in the first few weeks in a new space.
We move offices for businesses in Lexington and across Central Kentucky.
Common questions
As soon as you sign the lease. Internet circuits and phone number ports can take weeks, and they're the most common reason a move goes badly.
Yes. We coordinate with them so cabling goes in before walls close up and IT equipment moves on the right schedule.
We plan the move to keep downtime as short as possible, usually over an evening or weekend, and we're on-site the first morning in the new space.
Yes. Servers are shut down, moved and brought back up carefully, and we check backups before anything leaves the old office.
